Finally Getting Away For A Much-Needed Vacation? How To Get The Most From Your Hotel Accommodations

If you're finally planning a get-away that's been months – or even years – in the making, take the time to make sure your get-away is everything you hoped it would be. This is particularly true if you're going to be staying in a hotel, like Pony Express Lodge. While staying in a nice hotel is always a treat in itself, there are ways to get even more out of the experience. Here are four suggestions that will help you make the most of your get-away.

Ask for an Extended Stay

If your get-away isn't going to be for as long as you wish it could be, make it feel longer than it actually is. When you call to make your reservation, don't be afraid to ask for an early check-in and a late check-out. This will add a few hours to each end of your get-away. Those extra hours will give you some extra time to relax, swim, or just take in a few of the sites that you might have missed.

Announce Your Special Occasion

If your get-away is to celebrate a special occasion, make sure you announce it when you make your reservations. Many hotels will provide small tokens to help you celebrate in style. For instance, by announcing your special occasion, you might get a complimentary bottle of champagne, or complimentary tickets to a show. Just be sure that you let the hotel staff know when you call to make the arrangements.

Choose Your Amenities in Advance

If you're going to be staying in a hotel that offers special amenities, such as spa's, golf courses, or shows, be sure to choose those amenities in advance. Once you've identified all the amenities the hotel has to offer, and you've decided which ones you want to utilize, be prepared with your requests when you call to make arrangements for your reservations. The hotel staff will be able to schedule your itinerary before you arrive.

Request Those Little Extras

If you're not quite happy with the arrangements once you arrive, or you're missing something from home, don't forget to request those little extras. You might want an extra pillow, or a comfy robe to lounge around the room in. Go ahead and ask. The hotel staff will be happy to accommodate your requests. You can also ask for extra's that you've already run out of, like extra sugar for your hot tea, or creamer for your coffee.
